Are the costumes washable?

Yes! Please wash dark colours separately. Join the costume with the hook and loop fastener, turn the costume inside-out and hand wash or use a short wash cycle of 30 or 40 degrees. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. The costumes will be quite dry when you take them out of the washer. To get the fur pile on the furry costumes fluffy again use a hairbrush to brush the pile while it is still damp to restore the finish, and leave to air dry.

What if the costume I want to order is out of stock?

We try to have every costume design in stock at all times. Because we design and make our costumes in our UK workshop, we can usually respond very quickly to trends. If an item is out of stock, you can ask us to email you with an expected delivery date.

Why are the long animal tails detachable and why don’t you use zips or drawstring fastens?

Charlie Crow Costumes are designed to avoid causing harm or injury to children, and based on the requirements of European safety standard BS EN 14682:2007 Safety of Children's Clothing - Cords and Drawstring, we do not use cords or drawstrings in the hood and neck area of the costumes. Clothes for children should also not have cords or drawstrings with free ends longer than 140mm in the chest and waist area. That is why we only use hook and loop fastens, and why the long tails are detachable. Because zips are difficult for children to open and close, we use hook and loop fasteners on all our costumes.

What size should I choose?

Please check the child's height against our SIZE GUIDE Always measure the full height of the child from the top of the head to the ground, and with no shoes on, then choose the size your child falls between. We base all our clothing measurements and safety standards on the BSI quality standards. The BSI is the national standards body for the United Kingdom.

What are your safety standards?

All Charlie Crow Costumes conform to European and US safety regulations. As a precaution, you should always keep children and costumes away from fires and naked flames. Our costumes are made from man-made fabrics, this is because natural fibres, such as cotton and linen, will not pass the strict international flammability safety standards that are there to protect children from hazards while playing.

What are your ethical and environmental standards?

At Charlie Crow, we work hard to ensure that all of our clothes are produced to the highest ethical standards. We design and manufacture our costumes in our own workshop in Staffordshire, England. Our costumes are made from man-made fabrics, this is because natural fibres, such as cotton and linen, will not pass the strict international flammability safety standards that are there to protect children from hazards while playing. Charlie Crow’s environmentally friendly answer to using man-made fibres is to make good quality kids costumes that will stand up to lots of play and wear. Our costumes are well made so that they can be cherished and worn over and over again. They can be washed on a short washing cycle and do not need tumble drying. This reduces the energy required to maintain your costume and, in that way cause the least harm to the environment. Can I collect my order?

Yes! We are based in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST4 2TE. We are open Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm. You can place your order for fancy dress costumes by telephone on 01782 417133 or on our website by choosing the free delivery option and typing ‘I will collect’in the message box. STORE LOCATION

Can I speak to someone over the phone?

Yes, we are available between 8 am – 4 pm Monday to Friday (GMT) on 01782 417133 (UK).

How do I place an order?

Choose the items you are looking for either by using the search facility or by selecting the relevant product section. If you only wish to buy one item then select your size (if applicable) choose "buy" to take you directly to your order summary. When you wish to put more than one item into your basket before purchasing, click on "Add to bag". The bag at the top of the screen will tell you how many items you have selected and the current value of your order. At any time you can click on the basket to view its content and proceed to checkout.

Click on the basket, check the list of products you have ordered is correct, then select how you would like to checkout. On the next page, you will be prompted to enter your billing and payment details. Each screen will have instructions on how to proceed. Your billing address is the address to which your credit/debit card is registered.

If you wish your goods to be delivered to an alternative address you have this option. Once you have filled in all your details, you will have the chance to summarise your order and confirm it. You will then be directed to process your payment securely with SagePay. We use SAGEPAY to collect your payment on line. We do not see your credit or debit card details and therefore we cannot store your card information.

Once your credit/debit card payment has been authorised, and your order has been accepted, you will receive confirmation of the order by email. You can also print a copy online for your reference. If you have signed up for an online account, you can view past orders at any time by signing in.

What is the latest date I can order for a Christmas delivery?

Around Christmas time it is always advisable to order as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Last orders for Christmas delivery using our standard services UK is 1 pm 15th December 2018 and for express services UK is 1 pm 21st December 2018. Deliveries to Rest of the World last order date 1 pm 12th December 2018.

What payment methods can I use?

Charlie Crow accepts Delta, Mastercard, Switch, Electron, and Visa. Please have your credit card available when you order. If you intend to have your goods sent to an address other than that for which the card is registered, you can complete a separate delivery address form in our checkout. Unfortunately, we do not accept Amex.

When can I expect delivery?

The method of delivery and cost vary depending upon the country of delivery. Please CLICK HERE to view full details of our postage charges. Standard, Express & Next Day delivery packages will require a signature on delivery. We are happy to arrange delivery to your work address, or to a relative or neighbour.

What are your delivery charges?

UK delivery is charged per order, no matter how many parcels we send and whatever the size of your order. All orders received by 1 p.m. Monday to Friday will be despatched same day.

We offer four delivery options to UK addresses:

Free Delivery Your order will arrive within 4 to 5 working days.
Standard Delivery £2 (signature required) your order will arrive within 2 to 3 working days.
Express Delivery £4 (signature required) your order will arrive within 1 to 2 working days.
Next Day Delivery £6 (signature required) your order will arrive the next working day (if ordered before 1 pm Monday to Friday.) Orders placed after 1 pm Friday with be despatched on the next working day and will arrive with you the following day.

If I order after 1 pm Friday and select Next Working Day Delivery when will my order arrive?

Your order will be despatched the next working day, which will be Monday (except for bank holidays) and will arriving the following day.

When will I receive my order?

We aim to dispatch all orders received before 1pm on the same working day. If you choose our Free Delivery option you should receive your order within 4-5 working days. Standard orders should arrive within 2-3 working days.

Additionally we offer a Next Working Day delivery service for orders placed before 1pm. A signature will be required for both Standard and Next Day deliveries. As we have no Saturday delivery, an order placed after 1pm on a Friday will be delivered on the following Monday.

How do I return something that doesn’t fit?

If you receive your order and are not 100% satisfied with our service or products, you can return it within 14 days of receipt, and we will happily provide a refund. The goods must be used and in their original packaging. We offer this extensive guarantee because your satisfaction is important to us

Simply fill in the returns note that we sent with your order, and send the product back to us. You will have to pay the postage to return your order. You must ensure that you get proof of posting.

We can only refund postage on items that are faulty. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

What if I want to cancel my order?

You have the right to cancel your order within 7 working days without reason. If you wish to cancel an order before it leaves us please let us know by e-mail and we will credit the amount back to you. If your order has been despatched, you will have to wait until the goods arrive and then send them back to us to receive a refund.

You will have to pay the cost of returning the goods and must ensure that you obtain proof of posting. We will refund the value of the goods to you within 3 working days of them being received by us.

I’m ordering a present, can I send it to an address other than my billing address?

Of Course! At stage 2 of the checkout process when choosing the delivery method, simply click ‘Change Delivery Address’ and enter the required address – whilst leaving the billing address as set up in your account.
